Identity Theft

Reclaim is a ministry for reclaiming the hearts of men. What does “reclaim” mean? Check out these definitions from Merriam-Webster.com: 1. to get back (something that was lost or taken away) 2. to rescue from an undesirable state; also: to restore to a previous natural state.

Something has been lost. There is an identity crisis in our country, manifesting itself in men and masculinity. Did you know that according to Focus on the Family the US now leads the WORLD in fatherless families? Let that sink in for a moment. Why are so many man checked out?

In Genesis 3 we find an attack from the Evil One aimed at the very core of our identity as God’s children. An attack designed to get us to question not just our design, but ultimately our Designer. In Genesis 3:4-6 Satan presents the lie “You will not surely die, the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was there with her.”

In that short paragraph Adam and Eve traded the truth their Father spoke to them for a lie – and as a result their true identity and purpose as God’s children was stolen. And Adam let it happen. Not much has changed. From that day on there has been an attack on mankind, but especially on men – intended to lock up our true identity and purpose and enslave us to passivity. But guess what? Dad showed up and He meant business.

In Genesis 3:15 God said to Satan “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers. He will crush your head and you will strike his heel”. Jesus fulfilled this verse – He came and crushed Satan’s head and he did it to set us free. He exposed the Evil One and his schemes for what they are: lies. Jesus said in John 14:6 that he is “the way, the truth and the life” and in John 8:32 that the “truth would set us free”.

We are determined to reclaim something that is rightfully ours – our identity and purpose. Please pray that Jesus would raise men up next month at our Legacy Events on July 19th and 26th. Men who want to overthrow passivity and embrace responsibility.
